The jobs in demand right now (2 April)
The Department of Education, Skills and Employment has analysed real time hiring activity from online job advertisements (sourced from Burning Glass Technologies) and job placements data (from jobactive). The data show strong growth in health and personal service jobs, particularly for Physicians, Registered Nurses and Nursing Support Workers, with 900 more hospital jobs in March compared to February. There has also been growth in logistics jobs (Truck Drivers, Storepersons, Shelf Fillers) and some retail jobs (Pharmacy Sales Assistants, Checkout Operators and Commercial Cleaners).

Student free days for Queensland state schools (26 March)
Queensland schools will go student-free from March 30, as the state’s education system continues to work to limit the spread of coronavirus. Schools will remain open until the end of term on April 3, to allow for the children of essential workers to remain at school and for teachers to prepare to move to remote learning from home.

Information for early childhood education and care providers and services (3 April)
This information sheet consolidates previous information and provides an updated overview of the support mechanisms in place to assist the early childhood education and care sector manage the impact of Coronavirus (COVID-19) on its businesses. From 6 April 2020 the Government will provide the Early Childhood Education and Care Relief Package payments in lieu of Child Care Subsidy (CCS) and Additional Child Care Subsidy (ACCS).
